Believe: Guest of Honor
You must also be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect. Luke 12:40
Holiday gatherings require a lot of preparation and work to ensure your guests have an enjoyable experience. Prior to the gathering, you spend countless hours preparing the guest list, planning the menu, deciding on a table setting and how to rearrange your home to accommodate everyone. When the day arrives, you are busy putting all your plans into action so that when the guests come it will be ready. As the time draws near to the guests arriving, you shift into high gear and start moving more quickly to get everything done on time. No one wants to hear the knock at the door and not be ready. It is better to plan and prepare wisely so when guests arrive you will be ready to enjoy their company.
Jesus plans to pay us all a visit someday. Whether or not He is on your guest list is your decision but He will knock on your door either way. The last thing you want is to not be ready when he arrives. It is better to not be in the last stage of your life, anxious and afraid, deciding if you are ready to open the door and let Him in. You are given the course of your life to decide whether or not you will accept Jesus. You have countless hours to plan and prepare for His arrival so that when He knocks on your door you can greet Him with a smile and open arms. Maybe it is time you added Jesus to your guest list and prepared for Him to be your guest of honor this Christmas.
