Forget About The Past
“Forgetting what lies behind and reaching forward to what lies ahead, I press on towards the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 3:13-14
Sometimes it is easy to become discouraged or disappointed with where you are in life. Maybe by now you thought you would be married, have children, be more educated or further along in your career. Maybe you thought by this stage in life you would be more successful, more satisfied or more content. Maybe the life you have always dreamed or imagined seems further away today than ever before. Sometimes where you are and where you thought you would be doesn’t match your expectations or add up.
When this happens you can easily fall into the mindset trap of failure. When you think or feel like you have failed, you are believing you have done something wrong and then tend to focus your thoughts on all the shoulda, woulda and coulda’s that led you to where you are. The past is exactly where the enemy loves to trap your mind. When you get trapped in the past, you stop looking forward and stop pressing on towards goals. You get stuck and can’t move which is not beneficial for anyone.
So friends, let me remind and encourage you today that you are exactly where you are supposed to be. You are where you are today on purpose, for a purpose and you have not failed at life or at anything. Before you existed, God ordained all your days and decided every step you would take. God knew you would be right where you are and He knew exactly how you would get there long before you ever had a thought or a feeling about it. And the good news is He knows exactly what direction you are headed and what lies ahead in the days to come! You can look forward to the future and move confidently in the upward direction in which Christ is leading you! You have goals to reach and a prize to win, there is no time to be stuck or trapped!
Your eyes have seen my unformed substance; And in Your book were all written The days that were ordained for me, When as yet there was not one of them. Psalm 139:16
