Weed Out Thorns

Others fell among thorns, and the thorns came up and choked them out.  Matthew 13:7

And the one on whom seed was sown among the thorns, this is the man who hears the word, and the worry of the world and deceitfulness of wealth choke the word, and it becomes unfruitful.  Matthew 13:22

When something is choked, a passage or space is constricted or obstructed making movement difficult or impossible.  An example is the case of a person choking on food.  The food obstruction blocks or limits the amount of air that is able to pass through the airway causing difficulty breathing and in the most severe cases death.  The only way to restore adequate breathing and eliminate the risk of death is to remove the obstruction.

Worrying about the world and deceitfulness of wealth will cause an obstruction in your spirit the same way food will cause an obstruction in your airway.  Worldly worries and the lies you believe about wealth will create a blockage in your spirit and the living, breathing word of God is unable to flow through you rendering it powerless.  The words you hear will take root and grow, but it’s growth is limited by your greater belief in worldly things and you will bear no fruit.  When you set your mind and sights on worldly things, you lose sight of faith and hope.  Thorns in your spirit have to be removed just like the obstructions in your airway so that you can live and become fruitful.

The good news is that you can receive the full power and life found in the word of God by loosening the worries of the world you hold on to and by uncovering the lies you believe about wealth.  Once you can see and identify your thorns, you can easily pull them out and release them from your spirit.  When you eliminate the obstructions, God’s life giving word can flow fully and freely through you.  When the word can flow, you can grow and produce fruit.  Free from thorns, the word will be sown in good soil and you will become fruitful and multiply.

Ask God today to reveal to you what worries of the world you are holding onto and what lies you are believing about wealth and then ask Him for the strength and courage to release them from your life so that you can be set free to grow and become fruitful as God desires!  It’s time to start weeding out those thorns and start growing and multiplying!

And others fell on the good soil and yielded a crop, some a hundredfold, some sixty, and some thirty.  Matthew 13:8

And the one on whom see was sown on the good soil, this is the man who hears the word and understands it; who indeed bears fruit and brings forth, some a hundredfold, some sixty and some thirty. Matthew 13: 23
